Should You Stop Wearing Makeup?

I think it’s obvious by now but I love makeup, but I’m not blind to the fact that it may be doing more harm than good. Now I’m not saying you should stop wearing makeup all together as I get that with a lot of people it helps their confidence and id never want to take that away but here are some facts and benefits that might make you have some no makeup days.


  • Not Having To Take It Off

I don’t know about you but that’s my favourite part of no makeup days, not having to take 5 minutes or longer actually taking it off and that’s even before you start cleaning your skin. You probably know that it is very important to take off your makeup before you sleep but when you don’t wear any you can just quickly wash your face and roll into bed.

  • Less Spots

When you wear makeup over spots it can irritate the sensitive skin and make it redder and worse also using dirty brushes and beauty blenders is a recipe for disaster as its full of bacteria that gives you more spots, and let’s be honest who washes their brushes after every use! Certainly not me.

  • Cleaner Pores

When you use heavy foundation and powder every day some of it will stay in your pores even if you was your face, the makeup mixes with your natural oils and dead skin cells that clog up your pores.


  • You Look Younger

Have you ever met someone who is wearing a full face of makeup and look 20, then finding out there only 15? I have, so if you want to look more youthful it better to wear no makeup at all and let your freckles and rosy cheeks on full display.


  • More Time In The Morning

Remember I said just roll into bed well you can also just roll out of bed and not worry about putting makeup on that could take you 10-20 minutes, This gives you longer time sleeping which is a BIG plus in my book or you could get up and actually have breakfast for a change.


  • No Allergic Reactions

Do you know how many toxins there are in makeup? don’t want that on your face.  Most of the popular brands are filled with parabens and sulphates that really damage your skin and are highly allergic giving you irritation, patchiness and redness. If you don’t wear makeup you never have to worry about reactions again also your skin is highly absorbent so you don’t want toxins on your face.

  • Your Skin Has More Moisture

Makeup interferes with your skin’s natural cell renewal, this can make your skin dry and dull. If you stop wearing makeup your skin starts to balance itself and you get brighter and more glowing skin.


After all this I think it’s very important to have no makeup days, I understand that some of you don’t want to go outside without it so maybe start with just not wearing makeup inside the house when you know your not going anywhere. If your confident enough I find it very liberating to go outside with no makeup as I find you accept your flaws and appreciate your natural beauty that makes you different from other people, no one wants to be a clone and your imperfections make you unique.

When I was younger I hated my eyebrows as they are bushy and in an odd triangle shape and everyone else had plucked shaped ones, in the end, this makes me unique and big eyebrows are even in style now.
