I love makeup, have done for ages now, but when I looked behind the scenes I was truly horrified.
I have recently become a pescatarian but that’s a blog post for another day and have been more conscious about how we treat animals and have developed very strong feelings on the subject, the fact that we still TORTURE animals to test makeup and other product really disgusts me because there is no reason for it in this day and age.
Disappointment met me when I did a little bit of research on what makeup brands were not cruelty-free like Avon, Estee Lauder, M.A.C Cosmetic, Maybelline, Revlon, and L’Oreal.
Most of the makeup brands on the high-street/ drugstore are not cruelty-free which has made life difficult considering that my blog is mostly beauty and reviews of beauty products
Also, I have notice that the more freely available cruelty-free brands are in America rather then the UK
But there are still the few high-street brands that are easily available in the UK from The Body Shop, Gosh, Barry M, Sleek, No 7 , and now we have NYX in the bigger boots shops , I am sure that there are more so if you have recommendations please leave them in the comments.
There are also lots of high end or online cosmetic brands that are cruelty-free, Too Faced, Urban Decay, ELF, Tarte The Balm, Charlotte Tilbury , IT Cosmetics and Zoeva but they are either a little pricey or online so it’s hard to know what you’re getting.
In the end, I think it is our responsibility to protect animals from something so unnecessary, so from now on I will buy cruelty-free products and I implore you to do the same.
I will admit to still using products that are still not cruelty-free but only to use them up as I feel the damage has already been done by buying it in the first place but from here on out there will only be cruelty-free products in my life.
So to the important question should you go cruelty-free ? My opinion is clear but if you are still undecided please do your own research before you dismiss everything I’ve said.
Are you already cruelty-free ? Tell me your favourite brands in the comments and if this post made you rethink your makeup collection. Thanks for reading Xxx
