I’m always looking for a good natural looking foundation and I’ve had my eye on this one for a while but at £30 the Rainforest Of The Sea foundation isn’t cheap plus in the UK we can only buy it online so we can’t test out the formula or colour for our selves which lets be honest never turn out well, so I thought id do a review and help people get an honest sense of the product.

Let’s start off with the packaging of this foundation, it looks very luxurious and chic the bottle is glass and the top of the dropper is in this beautiful ombre purple and gold so it’s all very ecstatically pleasing but unfortunately the dropper is absolutely crap! It barely picks up any product and when you use the dropper it just keeps sliding out of your hand. It looks pretty but it’s useless so I really hope Tarte fix that.

Cost wise you only get 30ml for £30 so really not a lot but I do think of Tarte as a more luxury makeup brand so their products were never going to be cheap.

The shade range isn’t the worst I’ve ever seen but it could be a lot better and more inclusive to darker skin tones. The colour I bought was fair light sand and I would say it’s a little dark for me and also a bit too much yellow toned, I should have got fair light neutral but again it’s hard to gauge on the screen. It is definitely workable and does make me look less pail so that’s a plus though next time I’m getting a shade lighter.

Now I just want to quickly mention the smell… it doesn’t smell good, the only thing that I can compare it to is paint and the scent linger for a while. It’s not a huge deal I find I only notice the smell if I consciously smell the foundation otherwise I don’t really smell it.

The coverage is light to medium definitely not high coverage like they claim but its buildable with a beauty blender, I was hoping it would look more skin-like but it’s more like a lightweight foundation so it is in no means cakey but you can also tell your wearing makeup. That being said if I’m wearing foundation during the day this is it. I only use a small amount for such good coverage a dot on each part of my face, I absolutely love pairing this with my glossier stretch concealer( Review Here) as I think the coverage between those two are perfect for every day ( maybe fancy lunch) use and I love wearing this foundation because it’s comfortable and cover the redness of my spots.

Now 12 hour wear, I’ve never worn this for 12 hours I’m the type of girl that as soon as my foot is through the front door my makeup is off my face but I did wear it while swimming and though I wasn’t dunking my head under the water I was still splashing about and my skin still looked good. To top it all off I accidentally wore it in the sauna ( I know rooky mistake) and when I came out it wasn’t melted off my face, it wasn’t looking like it did when I first applied it, but if I had used a beauty blender and a little setting powder I think it would have been good as new ( unfortunately I didn’t ) but even without all that I didn’t look completely gross.

One of the main reasons I buy from Tarte and don’t mind spending a little more money is because their products are all Vegan, Cruelty-Free and actually work this foundation is free from Parabens, Mineral oil, Phthalates, Sodium lauryl sulfates and gluten.

Overall I really like this foundation and would repurchase, what are your favourite products from Tarte? tell me in the comments. Thanks for reading Xxx
